Iyengar Yoga Retreat
with Carolyn Christie & Marcela Clavijo
August 14th - 17th, 2014
Come practice yoga in the beautiful valley of Menla Mountain Retreat. We will practice yoga asana and pranayama, which will take us to a place of relaxed inner stillness in which we can be truly receptive and access a natural calm awareness. The Iyengar yoga method teaches us to extend awareness to each part of the body and begin to explore the limitless potential of the meeting of mind, body, and breath. We will continue this exploration in sitting meditation sessions.
Iyengar yoga is known for its focus on alignment, adaptability, and developing strength, flexibility, and stamina. We sometimes use props to move into the asanas more easily and fully. This allows us to perceive and access the inner workings of each asana, which can help liberate us from physical, mental, and emotional limitations. The props enable students to receive the full benefit of the asanas with minimal risk of injury or strain. Physical health and mental well-being are not separate from spiritual evolution. Rather, these quests are complementary.
Carolyn and Marcela are pleased to once again offer this retreat in tandem with Robert Thurman and Mark Epstein's annual retreat focused on Buddhism and psychology. Marcela and Carolyn will lead a Buddhist Dharma discussion on Thursday evening, and on Friday and Saturday evenings we will join Bob and Mark's group.
Open to all levels!
